You've likely heard of the Aperol spritz, which is a beautiful coral low-alcohol drink served at patio happy hours every where. Aperol is a super bright orange Italian aperitif that is combined frequently with sparkling wine, and I find the Aperol spritz to be a big cloyingly sweet unless done well.
I've been a big fan of whiskey drinks for a long time, and recently had a whiskey drink with some friends during happy hour downtown. It had fruity undertones, but the sweetness was mellowed by the whiskey and all topped off with a big refreshing splash of club soda. I knew immediately I had to start playing around with a drink recipe combining Aperol and whiskey to share with all of you!
